Basic Life Support (BLS)
New & Renewal
Basic Life Support is the absolute foundation for ACLS and PALS; if BLS is not performed well, ACLS & PALS will not be effective, and patient death is inevitable. This is often confused, and routinely BLS Provider certificates are given to ACLS and PALS students without adequate BLS training - we will never do this at StartCPR.
We find Basic Life Support skills are sorely lacking; we will not differentiate between initial and renewal classes. All BLS students at StartCPR will follow the A to Z of BLS, and no shortcuts will be made.
The AHA’s BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).
